New Board and CEO for the Karl-Adam Bonnier Foundation
With the turn of the year, a new mandate period began for the Karl-Adam Bonnier Foundation. This means that a new board is now taking over the management and development of the foundation. While the core mission remains the same, the new board has the opportunity to shape its future direction.
Kia Orback Pettersson takes over as the new chair of the foundation. She knows the foundation well, having served as a board member during the previous mandate period.
– I have the privilege of being re-elected to the board for another term, now in the role of chair. During the previous mandate period, we launched several strategic initiatives where the foundation actively contributes to addressing today’s societal challenges. One example is the collaboration with Stockholm School of Economics to enhance exchange between the business sector and public institutions. It will be exciting to continue following these initiatives while exploring new projects and partnerships, says Kia Orback Pettersson, Chair of the Board for the Karl-Adam Bonnier Foundation.
Tor Bonnier, who served as Executive Chair during the previous mandate period, is now stepping into a new role as CEO of the foundation. In this capacity, he will be responsible for the operational activities, including capital and real estate management, as well as the continued development of the foundation’s mission-driven initiatives. These initiatives focus on fostering collaborations and knowledge-sharing to support the growth of a dynamic and sustainable business sector in Sweden.
– In the new organization, with the foundation’s new board led by Kia as Chair and me as CEO, we are creating a balance of renewal and continuity in the foundation’s activities and commitments. The appointment of a CEO marks an important milestone in the foundation’s more than 35-year history, allowing us to focus our efforts and strengthen our initiatives within our forums while deepening collaboration with our partners, says Tor Bonnier, CEO of the Karl-Adam Bonnier Foundation.
The board of the Karl-Adam Bonnier Foundation serves in five-year mandate periods. Each board consists of both direct descendants of Karl-Adam Bonnier and external members. New board members for this mandate period are Eva Halvarsson, Kalena Bonnier-Cirone and Louis Bonnier.
Eva is currently the CEO of the Swedish pension fund Andra AP-fonden/AP2 and also serves as a board member for several organizations, including Vasakronan and Finanskompetenscentrum Gothenburg, Kalena works as Project Manager at Malk Partners, an ESG and Impact management advisory services firm for private market investors, and Louis is Director of Programs at the Transnational Alliance to Combat Illicit Trade (TRACIT), an organization supporting global business collaboration to address illicit trade.
– There is a great mix of people and expertise within the organization and the new board. I am very much looking forward to working closely with them to take the foundation to the next level, concludes Kia.
